Orlando Pirates did not make any signings in the previous window, but had a player training with them.
Pirates decided that their squad was good enough to go the distance, despite playing in three competitions.
Buccaneers made no signings in January
Pirates passed their CAF Champions League test with flying colours. This after topping a group that featured defending champions Al Ahly. They will now resume their continental campaign in April. Until then, they will continue their defence of the Nedbank Cup title. Their next opponents being SuperSport United, who they have drawn in the quarterfinals. In the league, they’re set to take on Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
That run of games depicting of much football their current squad will be stretched for. They have also not been without some injuries of late. The likes of Thalente Mbatha and Thabiso Sesaneto mention two. Now with the injury to Sesane being more serious, they have not looked the same without him at the back. Pirates fans have not been overly impressed with the returning Tapelo Xoki.
Now Pirates back for Toure from Stellenbosch
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Pirates are looking to fix this situation for next season. This by returning to former target Ismael Toureof Stellenbosch FC , a former Kaizer Chiefs trialist.
“He (Toure) is still on the club’s (Pirates’) radar, and it’s just a matter of when the club will be taking the interest forward by making a formal offer. If you look around the league, you will notice that he is one of the reliable and consistent defenders, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed as interest in his services is growing,” Said the source.
Would it be a good signing?
At the start of the season all of Pirates, Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns were credited with an interest in Toure. In the end he stayed at Stellenbosch but that could change at the end of the season.
