The sibling-like relationship and rivalry between African giants South Africa and Nigeria continues to persist as internet users react to a post where an unsuspecting user admires their views from their Lagos apartment.

Over the past few years, Nigerian and South African internet users have gone head to head against one another in the fight to become the unofficial lone African giant. On one side, Nigerians have expressed that they believe their country and its people come second to nobody and are the one and only African giant while South Africans believe the same of their nation as well.

This sibling-like relationship has made for entertaining rivalry, particularly during things like the AFCON tournament or anything that requires competition between the two countries.

In the latest development, South Africans have gathered under the comments section of an unsuspecting user who innocently posted an appreciation of the views they have of the city from their Lagos apartment.

“I love my apartment cuz I literally get the best view, (Nigerian standard) especially at night,” the caption reads.

Unbeknownst as to when and how the post reached a South African audience, internet users were quick to express shock and horror at the ‘great’ views that the original post boasts about. These users claim that the views are rather dull and dilapidated, and connect the dots, revealing that it now makes sense why areas that generally have a high population of Nigerian citizens in South Africa look the way they do.

These users reveal that they now believe that destroying infrastructure is a part of Nigerian culture, and claim to understand why their immigration statistics are among the highest in the world.

A handful of South Africans have expressed their deep appreciation for the state South Africa is in after seeing this post. These users claim that although mzansi is not without its issues, great infrastructure and cleanliness and many other issues re not among the problems they have to deal with.
