CAPE TOWN CONFIRMS 14-HOUR WATER OUTAGE
The City of Cape Town said maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements will result in water supply disruption in the following areas:
Part of Govan Mbeki Drive – Lansdowne/Hanover Park – The water supply to the area along Govan Mbeki Drive between Wetton Circle and Hanover Park Avenue, including the Lansdowne Corner Shopping Mall, the Astron Service Station, as well as the vicinity of Fynn Close will be shut off from 8:00 until 22:00 on Thursday, 20 February, to connect the newly-installed pipeline to the existing water supply infrastructure.
“This will allow for the installation of a control valve on the relocated water main to accommodate the current IRT road construction. Consumers are kindly requested to store enough water in advance in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period,” the metro municipality said.
Bethal Street and Avignon Security Estate – Hout Bay – The City of Cape Town said the water supply to these areas will be shut off temporarily from 8:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 18 February. This will enable the safe installation of a temporary bypass on the main water supply to the area. Affected residents have been urged to store water in clean, sealed containers ahead of the disruption to ensure adequate supply.
