Predicted Kaizer Chiefs XI vs Chippa: ONE suspended

Kaizer Chiefs have to name a strong side to get past Chippa in the weekend’s Round of 16 Nedbank Cup clash. How does this look?

Maart’s suspension should see Blom return

Midfield schemer Yusuf Maart will miss Chiefs’ Round of 16 clash with Chippa with a suspension. He’s picked up four accumulated yellow cards this season after his caution against Stellenbosch FC. Njabulo Blom could come into the side after being named on the substitutes’ bench in the team’s 1-0 success away at the Winelands side. Meanwhile, new signing Thabo Cele should retain his place. Angolan central defender Inacio Miguel should skipper the side in Maart’s absence. Playmaker Mduduzi Shabalala will almost certainly start too after being a substitute against Stellies.

Bvuma; Frosler, Miguel, Dortley, Ditlhokwe; Cele, Blom; Lilepo, Shabalala, Sirino; Morris.

Groundhog Day for the Powers-That-Be at Kaizer Chiefs

Two former Kaizer Chiefs young talents are thriving at TS Galaxy. The Rockets are on a 12-match unbeaten streak and shocked Sundowns with a 1-0 win last time out. They’re arguably the most improved side of the past few months in South Africa. Two ex-Chiefs products are contributing richly to this success. 20-year-old central defender, the stylish left-footer Khulumani Ndamane, has started 15 games across all competitions this term. His mature, complete performances have drawn effusive praise from new Rockets boss Adnan Beganovic.

“What I can say about him, is he is almost 20 years [of age]. Imagine he plays all games like he’s 35 with the same confidence, no mistakes,” Beganovic told FARPost.
