YUSUF MAART TO MISS KAIZER CHIEFS MATCH
According to the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Amakhosi captain Maart has accumulated four yellows and will therefore serve his one-match suspension this weekend. The game will take place at the FNB Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
SIYETHEMBA SITHEBE LEAVES RICHARDS BAY
The former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe is looking for new employment.
The 32-year-old player from Newcastle, KwaZulu Natal, left Richards Bay after just eight appearances in seven months. It was reported that the former Kaizer Chiefs man was released after clashing with the coaching staff.
“What I can say is that sometimes you do things as a senior player, not knowing that they can put you in a bad situation,” Sithebe told FARPost.
“The situation happened in the changing room after the game because, as a senior player, you stand up if things are not going well, and you know the emotions were high; I didn’t know this was going to end the way it did.
“And what I can say is that our situation with Richards wasn’t that bad because, after a loss, I could see that the decisions made by the coaches could have been better.
“I spoke out in the dressing room, trying to show coaches that some of the decisions they take are not good, that’s what happened,” the former AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder added.
TASHREEQ MORRIS TO KAIZER CHIEFS
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was in desprerate need of a hold-up center forward. Enter Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United.
As reported last month, the 30-year-old Morris left SuperSport to join Amakhosi, while Christian Saile went the opposite way to Matsatsantsa. How did SuperSport manage to accept the offer? “Tashreeq Morris came at the age of 31 and said ‘Kaizer Chiefs want me and this is what they have offered me’, and I couldn’t offer him half of what they offered him,” said SuperSport United chairman Stan Matthews via IDiski Times.
“So, should I have a miserable Tashreeq who resents the fact that he is somewhere because he could have been earning more than double elsewhere?
“He was out of contract [when he signed for United], so you look at the situation and say okay ‘how can I benefit the club, how can I benefit the team’. So, here’s a 31-year-old who I signed on a short-term contract, and we’ve got other number 9s like [Samir] Nurkovic and Bradley [Grobler].
“But I don’t have something like [Christian] Saile, who can get behind the defense, who can break the line, who’s got that added pace which Nurkovic and Bradley do not have.
“So, for me I’ve got to be practical. Now Morris, Bradley and Nurkovic together all three none of them had pace so I still got two 9s and now I’ve got someone who can go,” concluded Matthews.
