Orlando Pirates star Rele Mofokeng gets new wheels [photos]

Orlando Piratesand Bafana Bafana attacker Relebohile Mofokeng has received a car from the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation.

The 20-year-old was named the Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year in November last year. Mofokeng earned this honour by surpassing notable competitors, including former African 100m record holder Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, two-time Olympic champion Tatjana Schoenmaker, and his Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.

On Tuesday, Gauteng MEC Matome Chiloane handed Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng a new car at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort.

“An exceptional day for sports development in Gauteng! From strategic meetings with SASCOC President Barry Hendricks and Athletics SA President James Moloi to the inspiring Iber Cup documentary recording, we are laying the groundwork for a thriving sports future.”

“A highlight of the day was honouring Relebohile Mofokeng, our Sports Personality of the Year, with a brand-new car—a testament to his dedication and excellence. With strong partnerships and a clear vision, Gauteng is poised to continue producing champions on and off the field!” Chiloane said in a statement.

Mofokeng has had a stellar 2024, winning two trophies with Orlando Pirates. His good showing even saw him get his first call-up for Bafana Bafana having impressed coach Hugo Broos.
