Today’s Kaizer Chiefs wrap looks at the futures of Itumeleng Khune and Feisal Salum. There’s also some transfer market misery.
Chiefs count the cost of Mdantsane’s failed move
At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023 when they gauged him to be worth 1.2m (R22.8 million). Now, exactly two years later, they figure he’s worth half that (R11.4 million). Injuries have ravaged his time at Naturena, including a terribly unfortunate one sustained in a car accident, but when fit his form hasn’t been to the standard expected by Chiefs. He cost something in the region of R13 million. Whether they can recoup any of that money after his loan spell with Richards Bay is unclear. A clearly talented player, he’s flattered to deceive.
Where to next for Itumeleng Khune?
Not even a full season after playing his final game for Chiefs, the club is looking to employ the legendary goalkeeper in a new role.
Salum to Chiefs?
27-year-old Attacking midfielder Feisal Salum will not be extending his contract with Azam FC in his homeland. The goal-scoring schemer has been persistently linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
“Feisal Salum has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract,” Africafoot.com confirmed.

Upcoming Fixtures
Chiefs’ reward for a 4-0 drubbing of Free Agents FC is a Round of 16 clash at home against Chippa on Saturday 15 Feb at 18:00 in the Nedbank Cup. Next up in the Betway Premiership for the Glamour Boys is a meeting with former mentor Gavin Hunt and his SuperSport charges on Tuesday 18 Feb at 19:30.
Stellies trips are fruitful for Kaizer Chiefs
or all of their recent struggles, Chiefs just seem to have FC Stellenbosch’s number. New signing Glody Lilepo was the only scorer on Friday night as the Glamour Boys claimed a slender win over Stellies, while the R9.6 million Congolese star was instrumental in Chiefs’ second equalizer against AmaZulu in a recent 2-2 draw. His far post header was bundled into his net by Usuthu’s keeper Richard Ofori. Amakhosi fans will now be thinking “Why can’t we play at this stadium every week?”
Chiefs have won each of their last three Betway Premiership visits to Stellenbosch and fans are quickly warming to Lilepo.
