Trump’s Executive Order ‘illogical’: EFF

Certainly, the EFF has made its displeasure over the ‘illogical’ move on Trump’s part, calling for the citizenship of any South African who accepts the aid offered by the US to be revoked.

“Further to this, South Africa must revoke the citizenship of any individual who assumes refugee status in the USA on the basis of this Executive Order, as it would be a declaration of the belief that South Africa’s laws which seek to promote equality and social-cohesion  are  not  in  sync  with  such  an  individuals  values.  No  one  is  being persecuted in South Africa, and to flee to the USA under this pretense should result in an immediate revoking of citizenship.” EFF Statement

EFF claims US aid used to control recipients

The Red Berets claimed that the financial assistance offered by the US, and now cut off, by Trump’s order, has been used as a way to control South African recipients.

“Foreign aid provided by the USA has always been an instrument used for undue influence over the recipients of aid, but it has now become an aggressive tool to undermine our economic and policy sovereignty. It is for this reason that South Africa must be bold.” EFF Statement

Plans in pipeline to allow for Afrikaner refugees in US

Trump has announced that plans will be made to aid Afrikaners through a refugee program in the United States.

“The Secretary of State and the Secretary of Homeland Security shall take appropriate steps, consistent with law, to prioritise humanitarian relief, including admission and resettlement through the United States Refugee Admissions Program, for Afrikaners in South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination.” White House Executive Order

Trump: US assistance on hold until further notice

In addition to these measures, President Donald Trump called for all US agencies to immediately halt any additional aid the country provides to South Africa for ‘as long as South Africa continues these ‘unjust and immoral practices’.

“All executive departments and agencies, including the United States Agency for International Development, shall, to the maximum extent allowed by law, halt foreign aid or assistance delivered or provided to South Africa.” White House Executive Order
