The 30th annual Critics Choice Awards took place in Santa Monica, California, on Friday, 7 February 2025.

The event, which often serves as a key indicator leading up to the Oscars, saw some of the biggest names in film and television grace the red carpet.

However, it wasn’t just the awards that had people talking. Two actors in particular made headlines for a rather amusing reason: their matching outfits.

Orlando Bloom and Colin Farrell arrived at the Barker Hangar sporting identical maroon suits, according to IMDB.

Both actors donned maroon two-piece suits layered over matching shirts. The sight of the two “hunky actors” in the same clobber was hard to miss.

A ‘TWIN’ MOMENT ON THE CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS RED CARPET

Bloom, 48, accessorised his look with black shiny leather Chelsea boots and left the top three buttons of his shirt undone.

Farrell, also 48, went for a more relaxed vibe with suede loafers and a maroon woven belt. He kept all his buttons fastened, but the shirt’s low-cut neckline still gave off a similar vibe to Bloom’s.

The fashion faux pas quickly became the talk of the town, with social media buzzing about the “style twins”, according to The New York Times.

BOLD FASHION CHOICES

Some found the situation hilarious, while others praised both actors for their bold fashion choices.

Regardless, it was clear that Bloom and Farrell had inadvertently created one of the most memorable moments of the night.

Farrell was nominated for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his work in HBO’s The Penguin. He won the award, according to Just Jared.

His co-stars Cristin Milioti, Deirdre O’Connell, and Rhenzy Feliz were also at the event.

THE CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS AND THE WILDFIRES

The Critics Choice Awards experienced a few bumps in the road leading up to the event.

The show was originally scheduled for 12 January but was then pushed to January 26 due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Ultimately, the ceremony was moved to 7 February.

Despite the delays, the Critics Choice Awards proved to be a night of celebration, honouring the best in film and television.

And while the awards themselves were certainly noteworthy, it was the unexpected fashion coincidence between Orlando Bloom and Colin Farrell that truly stole the show.

HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR AND TALENT

As one Twitter user put it, “You know it’s a good night when Orlando Bloom and Colin Farrell accidentally coordinate their outfits.”

For South African fans, the Critics Choice Awards offer a glimpse into the world of Hollywood glamour and talent.

While we may not have been there in person, we can certainly appreciate the style – even when it leads to a bit of a twinning moment.
