Former Royal AM star Samir Nurkovic opened up earlier this week about his legal battle with MaMkhize over unpaid salaries.
In 2022, he joined Royal AM, but his contract was terminated that same year. Samir Nurkovic dragged the club to the football governing body, Fifa, against the termination of his contract.
MAMKHIZE ALLEGEDLY OWES SAMIR NURKOVIC OVER R15 MILLION
Fifa banned the club from transfers and ordered them to pay the Serbian-born striker his full two-year contract.
Against the judgement, the High Court of South Africa ordered MaMkhize to cough up her debts to SARS.
This undoubtedly saw MaMkhize’s SARS debt ballooning from R12.7 million to R37 million in a day. As of 2025, the debt has ballooned to over R40 million.
Speaking to the media, Samir Nurkovic said that he is focused on his career and that his legal team is working on the case.
“Certain things in a professional football and professional career are beyond the control of the player. Some people deal with it,” Nurkovic said.
No doubt, the protracted legal battle has been before the courts for over a year, and the club has yet to settle the money owed.
However, the media has since established that the amount Royal AM owes him is now over R15 million.
Reports at the time of the judgement revealed that Samir Nurkovic was set to receive around R12 million from MaMkhize as payment for the full two-year contract.
The amount has since ballooned with millions due to interest rates. However, both parties have yet to officially confirm the figure, which the media has since revealed.
CASES BEFORE THE COURTS
After all, this is one of the several court battles MaMkhize is fighting. MaMkhize’s court case against the South African Revenue Service (SARS) was struck off the roll earlier this week.
Rumour mill has it that the club tried to use player-owner Andile Mpisane to wave off SARS, which is now in control of the club through curatorship.
The case was dismissed, leaving the taxman controlling the club’s administration.
According to reports, “The club’s argument is that Andile is not the subject of any tax investigation, so the club should be immune from the dispute Sars has with MaMkhize.”
MAKING HEADLINES
It seems it never rains but pours for the troubled businesswoman. This week, MaMkhize missed her second deadline to submit tax-related documents to SARS.
Rumour mill has it that SARS requested tax-related documents from the multimillionaire, but she allegedly failed to submit them.
