Thembinkosi Lorch is trending after photos and videos of his first training season with North African giants Wydad AC flooded online.
In a shocking transfer, the former Orlando Pirates star joined the Moroccan giants from Mamelodi Sundowns.
THEMBINKOSI LORCH’S SHOCKING EXIT FROM MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
In 2024, the star midfielder pulled a shocker when he joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Orlando Pirates. This was his second stint under Rhulani Mokwena, who once coached him at Pirates.
However, Thembinkosi Lorch’s stint wasn’t as colourful as many hoped, as injuries and fan fallout marred it.
Against his woes, the new Mamelodi Sundowns coach and the club’s management listed him for sale in the just-ended transfer window.
The star was listed amongst five others available on loan and permanent deals.
Despite Kaizer Chiefs being the favourites to land the services of the versatile midfielder, reports have it that Sundowns were reluctant to let him join PSL rivals.
However, Thembinkosi Lorch later joined Rhulani Mokwena for a third reunion in Morocco.
After completing his move, Sundowns’ coach Cardoso revealed the reasons behind his shocking exit to the media.
After their match with Golden Arrows, the Mamelodi Sundowns coach said, “Regarding Lorch, as you might have imagined, he was not happy here.
“It’s important that the players must be happy. We cannot sustain players who are not in an environment where they feel they can perform.”
The Mamelodi Sundowns coach added, “Sometimes, it’s very important to give them the air. They need to breathe so that they can express themselves and also have the game time because they need to play.
“Lorch is not the young player [anymore], and in the last years, he hasn’t played that much. So, it was important to let him go.”
