South African flautist, composer, and producer Wouter Kellerman has secured his third Grammy Award.
The Johannesburg-born musician won the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category for his latest collaborative work, Triveni.
The album, released in 2024, is a collaboration with Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto and Indian vocalist Chandrika Tandon, blending diverse musical traditions to create a harmonious fusion.
Expressing his gratitude on stage at the 67th Grammy Awards on 2 February, Kellerman said, “This is a testament to the fact that music has the power to unite and heal.
“Thank you, Chandrika, thank you Eru, all the musicians who were on the album. Big thank you to Tholsi Pillay, my best friend and business partner, and then, most importantly, to all of you. Music connects, and I am very grateful to share this moment with you.”
Kellerman was dressed for the red carpet in hand-beaded gold brocade designs by SA designer Gert-Johan Coetzee.
LUCKY NUMBER THREE FOR WOUTER KELLERMAN
Kellerman’s previous Grammy accolades include a win in 2015 for Winds of Samsara, another collaboration with Ricky Kej, which earned the Best New Age Album award.
In 2023, he clinched the Best Global Music Performance award for the track Bayethe, a joint effort with South African artists Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode.
He has had five other nominations.

His dedication to his craft and his ability to seamlessly integrate various musical styles have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the world music scene.

Beyond his musical achievements, Kellerman is also recognised for his philanthropic efforts. He has sponsored the living expenses of children in the SOS Children’s Village in Ennerdale, South Africa, for more than two decades and has financed the construction of a house in the SOS Children’s Village in Rustenburg.
His commitment to nurturing young talent and giving back to the community underscores his multifaceted contributions to society.
