There will be mixed feelings for Kaizer Chiefs as they enter the Soweto Derby against Orlando Piratesthis weekend.Â
Chiefs will have both a two wins momentum as well as new signings bounce ahead of the game against Pirates.
Over the weekend, Chiefs made easy work of Free Agents FCto progress to the next round of the Nedbank Cup. They opened the scoring through Pule Mmodi who is starting to enjoy a bit of moment in the starting line up. The former Golden Arrows winger scored a brace to set Chiefs well on their way in the first half. They went into the break 2-0 thanks to his exploits on the left flank. The second half would see two more goals from Inacio Miguel and much maligned striker Ranga Chivaviro. There was also a second clean sheet in a row for goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma.Â
Chiefs without Duba and Morris
But that result did not come without a casualty. In the first half, striker Wandile Duba was stretchered off after an awkward landing. He has since been ruled out of the Soweto Derby. Furthermore, Chiefs will also not be able to call on new striker Tashreeq Morris. The former SuperSport United star is still suspended. But this could grant an opportunity for them to unleash a secret weapon.
Chiefs recently promoted young striker Naledi Hlongwane to the first team. The player was also pictured having travelled with the side for their 1-0 loss against Golden Arrows. Since then, he has returned to the DDC side where continued to score. The teenager came into the public’s attention after scoring a brace for the All-Stars against Magesi FC. With the game against Pirates now looming, and a lack of strikers, it could open up a chance for him.
Hlongwane to be unleashed against Pirates in the Soweto Derby?
Hlongwane would most likely be back up to Chivaviro who is now likely to lead the line. The burly striker will have his tail up after scoring. Chiefs fans would you lime to see Hlongwane unleashed against Pirates in the Soweto Derby? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.Â
