Princess Anne, affectionately known as Princess Royal, said that she has no plans of slowing down her royal duties at the age of 74, in an interview with the Press Association, during her two-day trip to South Africa last week.

PRINCESS ANNE: ‘I DON’T THINK THERE IS A RETIREMENT PROGRAM’

It seems Princess Anne has no intentions of slowing down her royal duties as she approaches a new year ahead. The royal expressed that she doesn’t think there is a retirement program for royal life. She made the revelation during her two-day trip to South Africa, marking her first international working trip of the year from 21 to 22 January.

“I don’t think there’s a retirement program on this particular life,” said Princess Anne to Press Association, according to BBC.

“It really isn’t written in, no. It isn’t really an option, no, I don’t think so,” she affirmed.

Princess Anne, who is 74 years old, is likely to be inspired by the drive of her late parents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Prince Phillip only retired from royal duties at the age of 97. Meanwhile Queen Elizabeth didn’t actually retire. She died at the age of 96 on 8 September 2022, at Balmoral Castle.

PRINCESS ANNE: ‘I DON’T HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING IN THE FIELD’

Also, while in Cape Town, South Africa, Princess Anne revealed that she had no memory of her accident that took place at Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire in June 2024.

Princess Anne was left with a concussion. However, she has revealed that she has no memory and doesn’t recall anything from the accident. She expressed that she thought she was going to the chickens as her “regular visit.”

When asked whether the last thing she remembered was walking into a field, Anne said, ‘No, I don’t even remember that,” according to BBC.

“I know where I thought I was going, and that was to go to the chickens, no, nothing to do with horses,” she continued.

She explained that seeing the chickens was her “regular visit.”

“I don’t have any idea what I was doing in the field, because I never normally went that way. It just reminds you, shows you — you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover,” she continued.

“You’re jolly lucky … if you can continue to be more or less compos mentis [of sound mind], and last summer I was very close to not being. Take each day as it comes, they say.”
