KAIZER CHIEFS’ MFUNDO VILAKAZI CELEBRATES CUP WIN WITH FAMILY

Despite struggling with third-tier opponents in the tournament, Nadi’s lads were clinical on goal, with Pule Mmodi netting a first-half brace.

Ignacio Miguel and Ranga Chivaviro netted in the second half as Kaizer Chiefs sealed the win. Kaizer Chiefs wonderkid Mfundo Vilakazi also had moments of brilliance during the game.

However, he was spotted celebrating the win with his family after the final whistle. Celebrated sports photographer Daniel Hlongwane took the now-viral photos.

Thanks to his huge social media following, the photos have gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped online.

Despite being one of the most followed stars in the Premiership, he has managed to keep his private life under wraps, leaving many to guess.

However, he often posts and gushes over his grandmother, but this time, it seems the star tagged everyone along.

Mfundo Vilakazi’s mother, grandmother and rumoured sister were all in attendance and shared some priceless moments with the Kaizer Chiefs star.

The now-viral photos were first shared on Instagram. The family was all smiles as they posed for pictures after the match.

This is not the first time he has warmed the hearts of many with his priceless moments with his family.

Against his newfound fame, Mfundo Vilakazi has undoubtedly praised his immediate family, especially his grandmother, for making his dream come true.

Last year in June, he left SA in tears after he showed off his customised shinpads in honour of her grandmother, who has always believed in him.

The Kaizer Chiefs star also gifted her a new mobile phone on her birthday.

CAREER

Mfundo Vilakazi reportedly started his youth career with Zola Seven Stars under Coach Skhumbuzo,Âaffectionately known as Zola 7.

However, little is known about whether the star played for another youth team before settling at Kaizer Chiefs Youth Academy. Mfundo Vilakazi had his shot to fame in 2023; the rest was history.

After being promoted from the Kaizer Chiefs reserve team, Mfundo made his professional debut in February 2024.

In March, he made his second first-team appearance in a Premier Soccer League tie, the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

This season, the Soweto-born youngster has opened his goal account. He scored a goal in the opening game against Marumo Gallants.

Kaizer Chiefs went on to win the match 2-1, thanks to the SA junior international’s late strike in a league game.
