‘EVERYDAY IS A BONUS’

In June 2024, Princess Anne was hospitalised after an incident at her home, Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire on Sunday 23 June. The accident was reportedly caused by an impact with a horse. At the time, a statement was released informing the public of the accident.

“The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” read the statement.

PRINCESS ANNE: ‘I DON’T HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING IN THE FIELD’

Princess Anne was left with a concussion. However, she has revealed that she has no memory and doesn’t recall anything from the accident. During her two-day trip to Cape Town, South Africa last week, Princess Anne revealed that she thought she was going to the chickens as her “regular visit.”

When asked whether the last thing she remembered was walking into a field, Anne said, ‘No, I don’t even remember that,” according to BBC.

“I know where I thought I was going, and that was to go to the chickens, no, nothing to do with horses,” she continued.

She explained that seeing the chickens was her “regular visit.”

“I don’t have any idea what I was doing in the field, because I never normally went that way. It just reminds you, shows you — you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover,” she continued.

“You’re jolly lucky … if you can continue to be more or less compos mentis [of sound mind], and last summer I was very close to not being. Take each day as it comes, they say.”

Princess Anne is married to Sir Timothy Laurence. He is her second husband. She was first married to Captain Mark Phillips from 1973 to 1992. The Princess Royal and Philips had two children together – Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.

According to Town & Country Magazine, Princess Anne and Philips split due to his alleged infidelity. He reportedly then moved in with a woman 28 years younger than him. Months after she divorced Phillips, she married Sir Timothy Laurence in 1992.
