African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Fikile Mbalula says it’s possible that the party is trying to woo former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member of Parliament Mbuyiseni Ndlozi .
Mbalula said this on Monday, during a media briefing on the outcome of the party’s national executive committee (NEC) ordinary meeting.
WOULD MBUYISENI NDLOZI JOIN THE ANC?
As previously reported, Ndlozi who had been a member of Parliament since 2014 was nowhere to be seen at the party’s National People’s Assembly which was held at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg in December 2024. Earlier this month, the EFF confirmed that Ndlozi voluntarily resigned as a member of Parliament.
During the briefing, Mbalula told journalists that the ANC may be talking to Ndlozi, but only the former MP could confirm.
“I would not be shocked that the ANC can talk to him [Mbuyiseni Ndlozi], and probably because he’s a good member of society and in the realm of politics, he’s a good politician. So, why not talk to him? At the end of the day, it’s him who can decide his future.
“So, when his party ejects him like that, I mean, to just kick someone like Mbuyiseni out, it means Julius [Malema] is powerful and overconfident in himself. Mbuyiseni is not just a small boy in politics,” he said.
Mbalula said if Ndlozi wants to remain in politics and contribute to the agenda of transformation and liberation, he is more than welcome to join the ANC.
“We in the ANC are open to that; he can come. It’s a platform for all South Africans to come and participate, and I wouldn’t say ANC members didn’t talk to him or they’re engaging; it’s possible,” he added.
