‘Kaizer Chiefs lost interest in competing with Pirates’ – Khanye questions Morris’ signing

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanyehas expressed his concerns regarding the club’s decision to sign Tashreeq Morris.

The 30-year-old striker was reportedly acquired from SuperSport Unitedthis week and is expected to complete his medical examinations soon.

Speaking on iDiski TV, Khanye questioned what Morris has accomplished to warrant a signing from Kaizer Chiefs. He posed three key questions: “What has he done to be signed by Kaizer Chiefs? Is he a national player? Has he earned a national team call-up?” He also questioned the rationale behind bringing Samir Nurkovic to SuperSport.

Khanye further emphasized the need for a proven striker to help address Chiefs’ ongoing goal-scoring issues. He believes that in order for the team to compete for top honors, they would need to overhaul nearly the entire squad.

He criticized Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi for his inability to make effective changes during difficult moments in matches.

“Even if you bring in Haaland, Gabriel Jesus, or even Mbappé, it won’t improve the situation; they need 13 quality players, not just average ones. Nabi struggles to read games, and his team rarely shows cohesive play. They hardly dominate matches,” Khanye added.

Kaizer Chiefs make first January signing

“When the chips are down, there are no players who can lift the club. I think they have lost interest in competing with Pirates and Sundowns in the transfer market. I question their scouting efforts. They need someone honest who will evaluate players based on their abilities. They have struggled to identify talent for almost 10 years. Kaizer Chiefs needs players like Appollis, Basadien, and Jayden Adams.”

Can Tashreeq Morris help Amakhosi this season?
