Zuma’s MK Party loses its money manager

The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is searching for a treasurer-general following Thanti Mthanti’s resignation less than two months into the role.

Mthanti resigned this week citing personal and professional commitments.

In a statement, the party said its leader Jacob Zuma has magnanimously accepted Mthanti’s resignation letter which is effective immediately.

“His decision to step down has been made after careful reflection and in consideration of his personal and professional commitments.

“Dr Mthanti has served the organisation with unrelenting and unwavering dedication from its inception. He has been an astute leader serving in different roles such as being the convenor of the national high command deployees to the Western Cape, and as chair of the communications sub-committee.

“On behalf of the leadership and members of the party, president Zuma would like to extend his deepest appreciation to Dr Mthanti for his contribution,” the party’s spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said.

FORMER BOKS COACH JOINS ZUMA-LED PARTY

Meanwhile, former Springboks coach Peter de Villiers has joined the MK Party.

The former coach was a member of the Good Party, which is led by Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille.

In video and images circulating on social media, de Villiers is spotted at the Zuma-led party’s deputy president and member of Parliament John Hlophe‘s farm in the Western Cape. The party’s spokesperson confirmed that de Villiers is indeed a member of the party.
