Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango believes Amakhosi still have a chance to win the league title despite being 15 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nasreddine Nabi’s men have only managed to accumulate just 12 points from nine matches in the league this season. With 21 matches still left to play, it’s still mathematically possible for Kaizer Chiefs to challenge for the title.
The reality however is that the team is in a fight to finish in the top eight. The Nedbank Cup will also give the club an opportunity to compete for silverware having missed out on the MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup.
“Merry Christmas to all our supporters, we wish that all the best on this day. But as for the team, my main wish is for us to stay consistent in our performance,” Msimango told the media.
Msimango believes Kaizer Chiefs are still in the running for league title
“My wish is that we win as many games as we can and bring back those glory days, but above all, I wish that we bring back the glory days for the club and the chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung Senior and continue to play well and win games.
“It’s still too early to [rule] out any club in the league title [race],” said the Kaizer Chiefs defender.
“We are looking at that as well and my wish is for us to continue playing well, not just for us as players, but also for our supporters. Our goal is to continue fighting for the league title, it’s still wide open for anyone to win,” Msimango concluded.
Sundowns and Orlando Piratesappear to be in the title race but Kaizer Chiefs can still make a late charge to finish in the top three.
Do you agree with Given Msimango? Can Chiefs make a late charge?
