Kaizer Chiefs set to axe veteran defender

Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to part ways with one of their own.

Hailing from Meadowlands, Gauteng, Zitha Kwinika grew up minutes away from AmaKhosi’s FNB Stadium – where he first broke onto the scene.

Rising through the ranks at Kaizer Chiefs, he made his first-team debut in 2014 before being shipped to Chippa United on a season-long loan a year later.

The Gqeberha outfit had no intentions of letting Kwinika go, signing him the following season, where he, aside from a stint at Thanda Royal Zulu, would spend the next three years of his career before securing a permanent move to Bidvest Wits in 2019.

A year later, he was on the move again; this time, it was Stellenbosch FC who put pen to paper; after fifty-five appearances, he returned to where it all began: Kaizer Chiefs.

However, two years and thirty-seven appearances later, his time is running out yet again in Soweto.

What we know

“Zitha is a good professional, but this season, it hasn’t worked out for him,” an anonymous source revealed.

“He did well in the past two seasons at Chiefs and was an important member of the team. However, coach Nabi hasn’t used him. It’s clear that he’s not in the coach’s plans, and he might be offloaded as early as January.

So far, I’m not sure if there have been any offers for him from other PSL clubs, but what is clear is that coach Nabi prefers other players to him.”

Should Kaizer Chiefs let him go?
