Details of the Arrest
The suspects, aged 40, 41, and 43, came under the watchful eye of the Atlantis crime prevention unit after receiving credible information regarding their suspicious behaviour. According to provincial police spokesperson, Anelisiwe Manyana, the trio was seen disembarking from a vehicle at a petrol station on the N7, carrying large bags. Their nervous demeanour aroused the suspicion of nearby shoppers, prompting them to alert the police.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Upon arrival, officers conducted a search and discovered 90 kilograms of dagga concealed in the area where trucks were parked. The investigation revealed that the illicit substances had been transported from Namibia.
Currently, the suspects are being held at the Philadelphia police station, awaiting their forthcoming court appearance. This case underscores the persistent struggle against drug-related crimes in the region and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to dismantle trafficking networks.
