After a six-year hiatus, Thandeka Nompumelelo Mkhwanazi, known to fans as TDK Macassette, is gearing up to make a much-anticipated return to the South African music scene. Known for her high-energy performances, and electrifying dance moves TDK Macassette is ready to reignite her gqom roots and bring fresh beats to her loyal audience.
In a recent interview with TshisaLIVE, TDK Macassette explained that her break was partly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced her to pause her career as live performances stopped. “COVID-19 got the better of me because one had to go home, and everything took a bit of a pause…we were back in the struggle for survival,” she shared.
Now, she’s back in the studio, working on fresh music with a new perspective. TDK Macassette hinted that fans can expect her new tracks by the end of this year or early next year.
In addition to her upcoming music, her Instagram shows that TDK Macassette has been busy DJing at various events, showcasing her talent behind the decks. Her fans are also looking forward to a new music video featuring Pabi Cooper, which promises to be a highlight of her return.
As a child, TDK Macassette hosted a kiddies show on Ukhozi FM, showcasing her talent and charisma from a young age as reported by City Press.
