Bonang Matheba, one of Africa’s most influential entertainment personalities, has recently premiered her much-anticipated reality show, ‘B Dazzled’.
Originally launched on YouTube in 2011, this revamped on-screen version brings viewers closer to Queen B, providing invaluable insights into the entertainment and lifestyle business.

Despite the anticipation, the show has faced criticism for its heavy focus on glamour. Tholang Motsumi, a reality show star, voiced that Bonang’s shows seem to lack the raw realities of life.
Motsumi criticized the show for always portraying Bonang as happy and glamorous, arguing that real life has its trials and sorrows, which are absent in ‘B Dazzled’.
I love Bonang but her reality shows have 0 reality in them, shez always happy n glamorous in the shows and real life has trials and sorrows, where are hers??she denies the world the real her on the shows n most people cant relate! https://t.co/gt2NA4OHUC

This viewpoint resonated with some viewers, who feel they can’t relate to a life that’s only about glitz and glam.
Unsurprisingly, this critique did not sit well with Bonang’s devoted fans, known as the B Force. They swiftly came to her defense on social media, making it clear that Bonang’s brand has always been about positivity and sophistication.
One fan aptly noted, “If you want misery, go watch another channel. Bonang’s show resonates with her brand, which is all about success and elegance.”
I just feel ppl who demand such from Bonang are not her fans. Guys if you want sadness and misery watch Moja-love. Black life is not only about cheating, polygamy, witchcraft. https://t.co/x5IMaDWCsJ

We’ve seen enough reality from Dineo Ranaka to her whole family which they even overplayed sometimes. We appreciate the glamour & seeing that it is possible for a black girl to live a glamorous life through Bonang. They just need to change the channel & also taking it to Showmax. https://t.co/tCSz3TIkpR

Anyone saying they can’t relate to Bonang because she is ‘too glamorous’ & ‘always happy’ is weird & lying, nobody wants to see difficulties in someone’s life to relate…you want to feel better about your circumstances 🤚🏾

Wanting Bonang to suffer to appear more relatable is some nasty ass misogynoir.
