Kaizer Chiefs forward Ranga Chivaviro has opened up about his improved form this season compared to the previous campaign at the club.

After a somewhat underwhelming debut season at the Soweto giants, Chivaviro has shown a significant uptick in his performance, leading to increased goal contributions and a more influential role in Amakhosi’s attacking play.

The former Marumo Gallants striker has already netted three goals in seven appearances across all competitions for Amakhosi. This is a significant improvement from last season, where he failed to score in his first seven games.

Chivaviro endured a difficult start to life at Amakhosi, failing to live up to the high standards he set at Betway Premiership side Gallants. The 32-year-old managed just four goals in 23 matches, hampered by an early injury that disrupted his rhythm.

However, this season, Chivaviro has rediscovered his scoring touch, netting three goals in seven games.

‘I’M DOING BETTER THAN I DID LAST SEASON’: KAIZER CHIEFS STRIKER RANGA CHIVAVIRO

Chivaviro acknowledged that his start to the new season has been better than the previous one. However, he cautioned against declaring it his best season at Chiefs yet, as the campaign is still in its early stages.

The player uttered these words in an interview with FARPost at the Ngwako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, where Chiefs partnered with the Polokwane Municipality and the Department of Education’s Capricorn South outreach programme. About 1,400 Grade 11 learners from various schools in the district were in attendance.

“I’m doing better than I did last season. I don’t want to say this is my best season at Chiefs yet as the season is still ongoing, despite the number of goals I have scored so far,” Chivaviro told this publication.

“But my wish is to continue to be part of the team and contribute to the success of the club. As a striker, I need to score more goals to ensure the club finishes in a respectable position.

“Also, we are hoping to win something for ourselves, for the club, and for the fans who have been rallying behind us since the new season started.”

Ranga went reveal what it’s like to work with the Tunisian mentor Nasreddine Nabi at Chiefs.

“Working under coach Nabi is more of the mentality thing. He reminded us of what Kaizer Chiefs is and how much of important it is to represent the brand,” he added.

“And obviously, it helped the new guys and the old players to gel very well. I think he pays more attention to the player’s mentality and how strong the player is, and he does not focus only on talent. His way of instilling confidence in us has helped us to improve our performance, and I think that is what has been working in our favour.”
