Orlando Pirates and Sundowns may have to brace themselves for offers as the profile of Bafana Bafana players continues to rise.
Scottish side Rangers eye out Bafana talent
According to the latest reports from Soccer-Laduma, Glasgow Rangers are keeping a close eye on Bafana and Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners.
“There has been an inquiry about Iqraam (Rayners) from Rangers of Scotland. I don’t think there has been an offer from them at this stage. What I know is they have shown interest and they continue monitoring him,” said one source.
Mofokeng is magic and European sides know it
Back in May, a trio of massive European sides expressed a desire to take a closer look at Mofokeng.
“Reports from Scouts in Attendance claim Rangers are one of several European teams interested in Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng,” Rangers Reviewreported.
“They report that the Ibrox club are keeping tabs on the emerging talent, aged 19. He has already caught the eye of clubs in England. He had a trial at Premier League side Wolves before being offered the chance to impress at Reading.
“Al-Ahly and Red Bull Salzburg are among the other clubs who hold an interest,” the report added about the Bucs youngster.
2024-2025 is Mofokeng’s season
The 20-year-old has dazzled for Pirates this term, most recently notching a pair of assists for Mohau Nkota’s brace in their 2-1 win over Belouizdad in Algeria. It was a perfect start to the Buccaneers’ quest for continental glory in the Caf Champions League. Mofokeng is central to their plans.
A few more starring displays for Pirates and Bafana Bafana and more notoriety for the player on foreign soil could see his value and price skyrocket. It’s inevitable that a player with Mofokeng’s gifts will move abroad to test his mettle; Pirates must choose the right time for both their bank balance and the player’s welfare and development.
