Kaizer Chiefshave lacked goals this season and one player that the club have reportedly looked at is Al-Duhail SC striker Michael Olunga.

The 30-year-old Kenyan international has been scoring goals for fun in Asia for almost a decade. In the 265 matches he has played, Olunga has scored a remarkable 195 goals and provided 34 assists.

Kaizer Chiefs have signed Tashreeq Morris this January transfer, but Nasreddine Nabi would love to sign a prolific forward who can score at least 10 to 15 goals with ease.

The Kenyan forward might be keen to join the PSL but his hefty R154 million price tag might be a factor. Earlier this year, Olunga expressed his desire to grow football in Asia

“It was not luck; they have really invested a lot in terms of football infrastructure, which is key for the development of the game. Without that, you cannot attract good players,” Olunga told The Asian Game.

“If you attract good players, you will have an opportunity to equally mentor good young players, which been a challenge in the past.

Kaizer Chiefs need a striker like Olunga

“Now, countries like Jordan, Iraq, and Iran are competing quite well. I give kudos to the Qatari government and football federation for their efforts in growing the game,” he said.

“The QSL is one of the top leagues in Asia, but for the national team to grow, player’s need exposure to play week in, week out under pressure, similar to the European game and Champions League,” the Kaizer Chiefs target said.

Should Amakhosi sign Olungo next season?
