The City of Tshwane will undertake critical water supply network upgrades in Arcadia along Kirkness Street on Wednesday, 5 February.
This planned operation, expected to last 12 hours from 8:00 to 20:00, will temporarily disrupt water services in several areas, including Arcadia (east of Eastwood Street), Brooklyn (north of Murray Street), Colbyn, Hatfield, Hillcrest, and Menlo Park (north of 5th Street).

The city emphasises that upgrading is necessary to improve water supply reliability and infrastructure durability.
“The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused due to the above-mentioned work,” said the city.
Residents in affected areas must plan accordingly and store sufficient daily water.
In response to the anticipated interruptions, the city has shared several water conservation tips to help residents adapt. These include minimising garden irrigation, installing water-efficient devices, and using greywater for household needs.
Encouraging water-wise habits
Tshwane residents are urged to incorporate sustainable water usage practices into their daily lives, regardless of the temporary disruption. Every drop count, the city water management team stated. Suggestions include covering swimming pools to reduce evaporation, using dual-flush toilet cisterns, using a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios, and switching to low-flow showerheads.
Residents are encouraged to report leaks or illegal water connections using municipal hotlines.
