Social media divided after Ntsiki Mazwai claims cheating is a social construct

South African poet and singer Ntsiki Mazwai has sparked debate with her views on cheating and polygamy.

According to Ntsiki, cheating is a social construct, implying that societal norms and expectations create the concept of cheating rather than any inherent moral or ethical issue.

In a snippet shared on X (previously Twitter) by BlackPolygamy, she expressed support for polygamy, saying that since she turned 40, she no longer demonises polygamy.

She also suggested that it can be a viable and honest alternative to cheating. She further argued that polygamy allows for openness and transparency in relationships, whereas cheating often involves deception and secrecy.

Ntsiki’s comments have generated mixed reactions, with some people agreeing that societal norms around monogamy can be limiting, while others have criticised her views as promoting infidelity and disrespect for traditional relationship structures.

One user said that polygamy would cost her her soul.

Another one wrote that they do not see a need because whatever a man can do, they can also do it, so there is nothing they can say to justify polygamy.

While others did not agree, others stood by her side. One said it is a social construct.
