Magesi FC forward Wonderboy Makhubu has reacted to coach Clinton Larsen’s remarks, insisting that ‘he’s ready for a Bafana Bafana call-up’.

This comes after Makhubu has established himself as a crucial member of the Limpopo club, displaying his skills and demonstrating his consistency as a player in the SA elite league.

The former Sekhukhune United frontman was instrumental in Magesi securing promotion to the SA top flight last campaign as they won the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He scored 11 goals in 30 matches.

Makhubu has carried his form from last term into the new season in the top-flight. In eight appearances across all competitions, he has already scored two goals for Magesi.

WONDERBOY MAKHUBU COMMENTS ON CLINTON LARSEN’S REMARKS

The 27-year-old expressed his gratitude for Larsen’s endorsement but wants to avoid putting excessive pressure on himself. He promised to honour the Bafana call-up when the time comes.

“Honestly, I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on myself about that at the moment,” said Makhubu in an exclusive interview with FARPost.

“It’s a great honour to get such endorsement from the coach because it shows that he sees the hard work I put in every day. So, if the time comes, then I will go [will honour the Bafana Bafana call-up]. I think I’m ready, as the coach Clinton Larsen said.”

Now, the talented striker aims to assist Magesi in winning the Carling Knockout Cup against Mamelodi Sundowns at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 23 November 2024.

The Larsen-coached team is making their debut in the Carling Knockout competition, and it would be a significant achievement for them to make history by winning the tournament’s final in their first season in the Betway Premiership.

The final encounter between Dikwena tsa Meetse and the Tshwane giants will kick off at 18:00.
