Why Gaston Sirinó could be forced to leave Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs welcomed seven players during the offseason – one was seven-time PSL winner Gastón Sirino.

The Uruguayan has made an instant impact at the club supplying three assists along with one goal in six league games this season; however, his off-field actions are beginning to cause tension in the Kaizer Chiefs Village.

According to Siya sources, “the midfielder allegedly fakes injuries and refuses to train. Only to return to action as matchday approaches.

“This pattern of behaviour has reportedly caused frustration within the Kaizer Chiefs camp. This especially with head coach Nasreddine Nabi and the club’s management, who expect a high level of professionalism. The 33-year-old’s actions have already led to disciplinary action, with the club making it clear that such behaviour cannot continue.

“Although there is a sense of understanding regarding the pressures that players face, Sirino’s conduct has been deemed unacceptable, and it has begun to affect his standing within the squad.”

Strike three?

You’d assume that Nabi has talked to Sirino, offering him another chance to redeem himself – if the midfielder continues to pull ‘sickies’, there will most certainly be repercussions that could involve contract termination.

Kaizer Chiefs transfer target

Kaizer Chiefs’ top target, Asenele Velebayi, has hinted at his desire to play at the next level, compete for trophies and become a Bafana Bafana regular.

“My peers, the likes of (Rushwin) Dortley, have done well. I don’t see what will stop me from reaching those levels or surpassing them. At the moment, I’m focused on my job at Cape Town Spurs, but that does not mean I don’t think about the future,” the 21-year-old told FARPost.

“What I just avoid is losing focus and affecting my game. I can only pray that we emerge successful as a team. As an individual, I aim to break into Bafana Bafana. Seeing Dortley and Relebohile Mofokeng makes me feel that as youngsters, we are not far.

“I believe that is a big platform for me. We all want to rise, but it’s a process. As a player, the goal is to grow and be a Bafana player. But when interests from bigger teams come, we must be able to deal with the level of attention,” he added.

“I envy what they (Mofokeng and Dortley) are doing at club and national team, and it is something that I also hope to do.”
