SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has shared his thoughts on Tashreeq Morris’ progress since he joined the Tshwane side.
The 30-year-old forward joined Matsatsantsa earlier this month. Morris has been without a club since July 2024 after cutting ties with Sekhukhune United.
At Babina Noko, the experienced striker struggled for game time as he only played in eight games across all competitions, which led to his departure from the Limpopo club.
Since joining SuperSport Morris has made a quick impact. In just three appearances, he has already found the back of the net once, scoring in the recent victory over Kaizer Chiefs. This goal marked his first since 2022 when he scored against Golden Arrows.
Morris joined Hunt’s team after they were unsuccessful in securing Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic. Matsatsantsa have encountered difficulties with their forward line due to Bradley Grobler’s injury, which has kept him out of action for a significant period.
GAVIN HUNT ON TASHREEQ MORRIS’ PERFORMANCES
Hunt is pleased with how well Morris has been performing since joining the club despite not having played football in a long time. However, the ex- Chiefs mentor stated that he does not want to burden him with too much pressure.
“I think he has been fantastic. He hasn’t played for almost a year, and he only trained with us for about two to three weeks,” said Hunt.
“He has been in much match preparation, and we put him in, and I think he has been so good for us. So, he could have got a few goals for himself.
“But we can’t put so much pressure on him because he hasn’t trained for so long. He has played three games in six days, and his performances were satisfying.”
