‘Wangkolota’ host Kagiso Modupe to be sued

Kagiso Modupe’s production company Bakwena Productions has reportedly not paid Pound 4 Pound actors for two months.

KAGISO MODUPE TO BE SUED?

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reportsthat Pound 4 Pound actor are threatening to sue Kagiso Modupe’s company, Bakwena Productions.

“The cast and crew of BET’s new series Pound 4 Pound have threatened to sue executive producer Kagiso Modupe’s company Bakwena Productions for failing to pay salaries for months.”

“Modupe’s missed the promised deadline of 30 October,” says Mphela.

BET through Paramount Africa confirmed in a statement, “it is up to date with all payments made to Bakwena Productions. The production company is responsible for disbursing payments to cast and crew.”

The South African reached out to Kagiso Modupe on Monday, 4 November for a comment.

ACTOR SLAMMED FOR HIS SAFTA SPEECH?

According to Briefly, Kagiso Modupe was recently criticised for his speech at the South African Film and Television Awards (Safta).

The publication adds that some of the Pound 4 Pound actorscalled him for his acceptance speech as they have not yet received their salaries.

Zimojaalso reveals that Modupe was also called out for not paying actors on time in Losing Lerato and Ingomashows.

A source tells the publication: “For someone who is a non-payer, I would have not made such a speech. It was arrogant and just distasteful.”

Sunday Worldreported in October that former Isidingoactor Brandon Auret has instructed his lawyers to stop the airing of Pound 4 Pound.

The publication adds that Bakwena Productions has been served with a letter of demand.

Modupe received a Safta for Supporting Actor in Netflix’s comedy series, Yoh! Christmas.
