Uncle Waffles defends herself against exploitation rumours

Amapiano star Uncle Waffles has come out defending herself following the recent rumours that have been circulating, stating that she was exploiting other talents in the music industry.

The social media website X (formerly known as Twitter) has become a battle ground for the Swazi DJ and producer Lungelihle Zwane, this comes after a fellow artist known as PCee, accused the amapiano genre being one that has been at the heart of creative exploitation.

In an Instagram live chat, PCee took to the platform highlighting that he had been a part producing many of the country’s biggest hits, but to this day, has not been compensated with a single cent.

While he did not disclose some of the names of those involved in the alleged exploitation, many social media users later connected the dots as pointed fingers to Waffles.

“Who is he talking about Uncle Waffles or Porry (short for Maphorisa)”.

Another user wrote: “I think he’s talking about Waffles”.

Meanwhile, a post shared by the X account Piano Connect alleges that Uncle Waffles has since responded by addressing the matter.

In the post, the prominent DJ could be seen denying that she was a gatekeeper for upcoming talent as she revealed that she was just an artist herself.

“He is signed to an entire record label, has an international distributor, management and you are all blaming me? The independent artist?” she asked.

Meanwhile there are some who feel that his PCee’s rant lacked context, also adding that artists tend to whine about exploitation on when struggling, not when successful.
