South African sensation Tyla made waves at her first-ever Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week, and she did it in true style.

TYLA BRINGS BACK THE ’90s

The Grammy-winning singer, known for her hit single Water, turned heads with a bold, vintage-inspired look. The outfit paid homage to the iconic ’90s supermodel era while adding a modern flair.

Held at the Grand Palais on 11 March, the Chanel Fall/Winter 2025-2026 showcase was a star-studded affair. However, Tyla’s outfit ensured all eyes were on her.

Tyla’s ensemble was a masterclass in blending classic Chanel aesthetics with contemporary edge.

She wore a strapless pink bustier top adorned with gold buttons and exposed stitching. This is reminiscent of Karl Lagerfeld’s legendary designs, according to W Magazine.

Paired with a matching micro-mini skirt, the look channelled the glamour of ’90s icons like Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.

Instead of a traditional blazer, Tyla opted for a cropped bolero jacket draped over her shoulders. The look echoed the same stitching and button details as her top.

“I wanted to honour Chanel’s history but make it feel like me,” Tyla shared in an interview after the show.

STYLE DETAILS

Her accessories sealed the deal. Tyla carried a sleek black Chanel handbag and wore almond-toe slingbacks. This was perfect for adding a touch of sophistication.

A statement lariat necklace and graphic gold jewellery added sparkle to her look. Her edgy hairstyle—a jagged bob with fringe bangs—gave the outfit a punk-inspired twist.

“The hair was definitely a risk, but I think it brought everything together,” she said.

Tyla wasn’t the only star embracing Chanel’s timeless codes that day.

CHANEL DARLINGS

British actress Simone Ashley rocked a cropped jacket and party skirt, while Dakota Fanning dazzled in a disco-inspired outfit, according to WWD.

The collection itself, designed by Chanel’s in-house team, featured signature elements. They used tweed ensembles draped with pearls and reimagined the little black dresses with sheer overlays.

It marked the final collection before Matthieu Blazy takes over as creative director later this year. For Tyla, this moment was history in the making.

TYLA, THE COVER STAR

As the first South African artist to grace the cover of British Vogue, Tyla’s presence at such an iconic event underscores her rising influence in both music and style.

“It’s surreal,” she said about attending the fashion show. “Growing up in Johannesburg, I never imagined I’d be sitting front row at Chanel.”

The singer’s look not only celebrated Chanel’s legacy but also hinted at its future under Blazy’s direction.

CHANEL’S FUTURE

With his reputation for innovation at Bottega Veneta, fans are eager to see how he’ll reinterpret the brand’s archives. Especially when he debuts his first collection in October 2025, according to Elle.

Back home in South Africa, Tyla’s Parisian adventure has sparked pride and excitement among fans.

THE IT FASHION GIRL

Her ability to merge global high fashion with her unique identity is inspiring many young South Africans to dream big.

As one fan commented online, “She’s putting Mzansi on the map!”

Tyla summed up her experience perfectly: “Chanel is about elegance and confidence—and today, I felt both.”
