Trevor Noah has been invited to host the upcoming Grammy Awards for the fifth consecutive time – and South Africans are jokingly celebrating his “tender.”
The Soweto-born star makes history as the first African and comedian to host the awards show on more than one occasion.
The biggest music awards take place on Sunday, 2 February.
TREVOR NOAH MAKES HISTORY WITH GRAMMY AWARDS GIG
Earlier this week, the 67th Grammy Awards announced details of its upcoming show,including the host, Trevor Noah.
The South African comedian first hosted music’s biggest night in 2021, amid the COVID–19 pandemic. The gig was a massive success, and Trevor has been invited back to host the show ever since.
The 40-year-old makes history as the first African and now comedian to host the show on multiple occasions. For the first time, Trevor will also serve as a producer of the show.
On social media, South Africans celebrated the news, with many joking that Trevor had scooped a Hollywood “tender.”
The Grammys will take place on Sunday, 2 February, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Trevor Noah joins the likes of fellow comedians James Corden, Rosie O’Donnell, Elen DeGeneres, and Whoopi Golberg, who have all hosted the show.
WHO HAS HOSTED THE AWARDS THE MOST TIMES?
Trevor Noah is succeeded by a handful of stars who have hosted on multiple occasions.
They include the late singer Andy Williams, who hosted seven times, and fellow artists John Denver and LL Cool J, who hosted six and five times respectively.
