If you’ve ever felt a burning sensation in your nostrils during a hot, dry day, you’re not alone. It’s a common issue, especially in the peak of summer when heat and low humidity can wreak havoc on our sensitive nasal passages.

That stinging discomfort can make even the simplest tasks feel unbearable. However, there are easy, effective ways to soothe and protect your nose so you can breathe easily, no matter how scorching it gets outside.

According to Medical News Today, a burning sensation in the nose can be caused by respiratory infections, allergic reactions, or sinusitis. It is stated that steam inhalation and remedies can help, but prescription medication and medical intervention may be necessary.

Home remedies suggested by the above source include drinking fluids, and getting rest can clear congestion. Nasal irritation is said to be also managed with saline sprays or rinses.

To combat allergies, the Healthline publication suggests that you install a humidifier or cool-mist vaporiser to increase air moisture, keeping humidity below 50%. It is also recommended that you cover your nose with a scarf when outside.

The above-mentioned source continues to warn that you avoid exposure to triggers by keeping windows closed, using masks, washing bedding, vacuuming, and keeping pets out of the bedroom.

”You can usually manage your nasal symptoms at home. But if your symptoms don’t go away after a week or more, you may want to make an appointment to see your doctor. Contact your doctor right away for more serious symptoms like high fever,  trouble breathing, tightness of the throat, or blood in your nasal discharge.”
