It’s exam season and as parents, the first concern is making sure that your child is mentally prepared for what the exam period requires of them.
Health hub, Healthline adds that certain herbal teas may help alleviate stress and anxiety symptoms, but it is critical to see a doctor before incorporating herbal tea into your regimen, since it may interfere with other medications and may not be appropriate for everyone.
Here are a couple of teas to help them boost their mood and decrease the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
Rooibos tea
Rooibos tea has been proven to reduce stress. It contains polyphenols aspalathin and nothofagin, which can reduce the production of cortisol, the hormone associated with stress.
Chamomile tea
Chamomile is probably the most popular tea in terms of its calming benefits. If your kid suffers from stress-induced insomnia, it might be good to make them a cup of chamomile. It also contains the flavonoid apigenin which may be beneficial for memory too, making it the perfect tea for your child preparing for exams.
Lemon balm tea (Melissa officinalis)
Lemon balm tea is known for its stress-relieving properties. It increases feelings of calmness, improves mood and reduces symptoms of stress.
Green tea
Green tea is brain food. It helps with improved moods has been proven to increase memory and can help you respond to stressful situations better.
Lavender tea
Lavender can help you de-stress. It’s a great post-exam drink to help your kids unwind. It can help to ease tension, especially during stressful periods.
