Three players high on Orlando Pirates’ offseason wishlist

Orlando Pirates failed to land any talent in January amid their best chance for the title in years. The Buccaneers had several targets in their sights.

Jose Riveiro’s side, beaten up with injuries, would have benefited from some summer acquisitions as the laden Mamelodi Sundowns continue to solidify themselves as runaway favourites.

The offseason transfer window will be Pirates’ next chance to sign players – and you can bet your bottom dollar they will.

Three dream signings

Oswin Appollis

Orlando Pirates tried desperately to sign Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis in the last two transfer windows, but like Kaizer Chiefs, were told he was not for sale.

The 23-year-old is said to be keen on a transfer to Soweto, insinuating that a move in the winter isn’t off the cards.

Fawaaz Basadien

Stellenbosch left-back Fawaaz Basadien was another Bafana star Orlando Pirates tried to land in the summer. The 28-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season, suggesting the Buccaneer’s chances of getting their man much higher.

Jaedin Rhodes

Orlando Pirates have long admired Cape Town City winger Jaedin Rhodes, who has amassed nearly eighty Betway Premiership appearances at the tender age of twenty-one.

“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.

“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.

“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”
