WILL THE GOLD CARDS STILL WORK AFTER END OF DECEMBER?

There has been quite a lot of confusion over the Sassa gold cards, which were set to expire on 31 December 2024. According to a report by GroundUp on 8 November 2024, Postbank confirmed that beneficiaries can continue to use their gold cards after the end of December this year. Bongani Diako, spokesperson of Postbank, explained:

“Gold Card beneficiaries in areas where we have not yet started issuing Black Cards need not be concerned as we will be taking the cards to where they live in every part of the country. Their Gold Cards will continue to work until we issue them with new Black Cards.”

Diako further stated that beneficiaries “must ignore any conflicting information,” including being advised to change their payment method for the grants.
