Musician Thembisile Ntaka proudly waves the South African flag high as she lands a role in Hong Kong for the adaptation of the renowned Disney film, The Lion King. Her achievement marks another significant milestone as she joins the growing list of mzansi acts who are making their mark on the global stage.
As per reports by entertainment publication, ZiMoja, the actress and singer is booked and busy as she gears up to be on the theatre stages in Hong Kong, Disney.
The Lion King is an American Disney film that tells the story of a young lion named Simba, who strives to reclaim his kingdom after the loss of his father, Mufasa. Although it debuted in 1994, there have been many versions of the film, with the most recent adaptations released in 2019 and 2025, featuring numerous South African actors.
Speaking to the entertainment publication, Thembisile clarified the reasons behind her six month move to Hong Kong, adding that she has been working on the theatre production and working on new music.
She further explained, “I haven’t been completely out of the scene; I did a song with Nick Soul, and it’s out there. It was nice to work with him. I’m also working on my new album, which is due for release next year in May when I come back home. I have a couple of songs that I’ve worked on back home, and I’m just going to add a few more songs when I get home.”
