THEMBINKOSI LORCH JETS OFF TO MOROCCO AHEAD OF HIS MOVE TO WYDAD AC

The former Orlando Pirates star set social media abuzz after his photo at the airport, seemingly leaving South Africa for Morocco ahead of his rumoured move to Wydad Athletic Club, flooded online.

Surprisingly, the post has since been deleted from Instagram. However, @jrconsultingsa seemingly confirmed the news of his move as they congratulated the star on his loan move to Wydad.

Despite the post confirming Lorch’s move to the Moroccan giants, Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic have yet to confirm the news.

However, if Thembinkosi Lorch’s loan deal goes through, this will be his third stint under Rhulani Mokwena.

He was once under Mokwena at Orlando Pirates before he joined him at Mamelodi Sundowns last year.

TRANSFER DRAMA

His stint with Mamelodi Sundowns hasn’t been as colourful as many hope for. Since joining the club, he has struggled with game time, and injuries continue to take a toll on his career.

His social media posts have also caused him to fall out with Mamelodi Sundowns. Amid Thembinkosi Lorch’s woes, the club listed the star for sale and five others.

Last week, Austin Ditlhobolo posted, “Miguel Cardoso and Flemming Berg are hoping to trim down the Mamelodi Sundowns squad before tomorrow night. They are available on loan/permanent deals.

  • Thapelo Maseko
  • Lesiba Nku
  • Lebohang Maboe
  • Thembinkosi Lorch
  • Reyaad Pieterse
  • Erwin Saavedra

This was a shocker since he recently joined the club. The publication also established that the six listed players were available on load or permanent deals.

Confirmed reports have it that Lorch will join the club on a six-month loan after his deal with Kaizer Chiefs failed.

CAREER

Thembinkosi Lorch started his career with Katlehong Young Stars and made his senior debut with Maluti FET College FC in 2013.

While at Maluti FET College FC, he received a call from Screamer Tshabalala, who informed him of Orlando Pirates’ interests after his stellar performance against Jomo Cosmos then.

In 2015, Thembinkosi Lorch joined Orlando Pirates. However, he was loaned out during his first two seasons.

He played for Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United during the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons before returning to the Orlando Pirates.

Since then, he has been winning big. The 2018/2019 season was arguably Thembinkosi Lorch’s best season. In 2024, he left Orlando Pirates for Mamelodi Sundowns.
