The PSL January transfer window has started slowly but seems set to pick up pace going into the latter stages.

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing top talent – big money moves inbound?

Rumours around the league

  • Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly monitoring 27-year-old Thabo Cele. The talented midfielder plays for Russian side FC Fakel Voronezh.
  • Patrick Maswanganyi is pushing for a move to Europe, say’s the player’s former Stars of Africa Academy mentor, Farouk Khan.
  • Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of youngster Asanele Velebayi appears to be at a stand-still. The 22-year-old is eager to be in the PSL.
  • Orlando Pirates are hoping to ship off midfielder Bandile Shuba to make way for Polokwane’s Thabang Mataludi, who also has interest from Sowetan rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

More on Maswanganyi

“I can tell you now Tito is ready for Europe,” said Khan.

Before adding that “even himself as a player, he really wants to play there. You know if Pirates can allow him to go then it won’t benefit only Pirates from the sale but also the player himself and the country. He could have stayed longer in Portugal but he was impatient that time,

“You know many players from Brazil, Argentina, and most other African countries use Portugal as a springboard to bigger leagues in Europe and he could have been patient then things could have worked out for him that time. But nothing is lost. He can still go now and make it big. He is ready for Europe.”
