During the interview, Thabiso shared Youngins’s impact on his career and personal growth, When asked what he values most about his time on the series, he reflected, “The opportunity to embrace youth and learn from mistakes, whether they’re mine or those of my peers. It also feels great to be part of something historic – I see this show as the Yizo Yizo of my generation.”
Thabiso, who plays Mahlatse, reflected on the overwhelming support he’s received from fans. “The love I’ve received from viewers has been incredible,” he said. “I was really surprised because Mahlatse is so different from the typical nerds we’ve seen in high school. I feel like he’s misunderstood.”
With Youngins Season 2 set to premiere on Showmax every Friday starting 15 November 2024, fans can expect even deeper character development and storylines that tackle real, often challenging, issues facing South African youth.
In the interview with Actors Space, Thabiso discussed a scene where he recited the poem monologue from Youngins Season 1 that gained attention on social media. He revealed that he connects with his character, Mahlatse, and instinctively understood how he would perform during a key scene.
