Netflix kicked off the much-anticipated return of Squid Game Season 2 with an electrifying fan event in Los Angeles on 12 December.

Held at the Los Angeles City College athletic field, the event was nothing short of a spectacle.

Fans relived the thrill of the show by participating in a series of immersive activities. This included a 5-kilometre race inspired by the infamous challenges seen in the series.

Contestants wore the iconic green tracksuits, battling through tasks for a chance to attend the premiere screening, according to Netflix.

One of the highlights was a life-size recreation of ‘Red Light, Green Light,’ complete with the eerie, giant doll that commands the game.

Pink-suited guards roamed the event, enhancing the show’s immersive atmosphere.

Other attractions included set-inspired photo opportunities and a mini-night market featuring popular Koreatown street foods.

Guests could also enjoy a nail-painting station, with designs inspired by the show.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed gratitude to fans. He called them his “best Christmas gift.” Addressing the crowd, he said, “Thank you for coming to celebrate Squid Game Season 2.

We’re excited for you to see the new players and the twists ahead.”

ACTORS AT THE SQUID GAME SEASON 2 PREMIERE

Lead actor Lee Jung-jae, who reprises his role, added, “We hope you love what’s coming. Good luck, from one player to another.”

The premiere gathered the show’s stars, including Lee Byung-hun and Yim Si-wan, alongside executive producer Kim Ji-yeon, according Polygon.

The event was a celebration of both the series’ success and its upcoming season, set to stream on Netflix from 26 December.

Squid Game, known for its gripping narrative of cash-strapped contestants competing in deadly games for a ₩45.6 billion prize (around ZAR 630 million).

While Squid Game will conclude with Season 3, Hwang hinted at future spin-offs, according to IMDB.

“I can’t stay in this world forever,” he said, laughing. “My next project will be darker, more violent, and more cruel.”
