It’s official, Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng is no longer a boy.

After making his professional debut in May 2023, the 20-year-old winger from Sharpville has won South African GQ Magazine’s Sportsman of the Year award. Mofokeng played 36 matches that included seven goals and 7 aasists in 2024, while also making three appearances for Bafana Bafana.
His GQ Sportsman of the Year award was announced on Sunday night. “ReleOnX [Relebohile Mofokeng] Is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder and winger for Orlando Pirates and the South Africa national team,” the outlet said.
“Mofokeng is quickly establishing himself as one of the most impressive talents in local football.”
NO PATRICK MASWANGANYI FOR ORLANDO PIRATES AGAINST AL AHLY
The Buccaneers‘ head coach Jose Riveiro has given a rather suspicious reason for Patrick Maswanganyi’s absence against Al Ahly last Saturday.
Following the goalless draw against the Egyptian giants in Group C of the CAF Champions League on Saturday, coach Jose Riveiro was asked about the shock absence of his 26-year-old playmaker Maswanganyi.
“He was not available for selection today,” Riveiro said as quoted by iDiski Times.
“Like I said many times I don’t feel I have the right to speak about somebody’s health, maybe about mine. But he was not available for selection to the 20.
“I don’t think, we have any reason to – I don’t know how to say it without any headline – sorry but after this performance to sit here and talk about one player who didn’t play, it’s a little bit disappointing for me.
“I think we have to talk about the game that Saleng, Rele, Hotto, everybody coming from the bench played, because they did a fantastic job, it was an excellent match.
“Speaking about anyone who were not the protagonists today, I think it’s not the right moment. But just to answer your question, he was not available for selection,” concluded the Orlando Pirates mentor.
