Spice Girls prepare for 30th Anniversary world tour

The Spice Girls are reportedly preparing for a massive 30th anniversary world tour, but Victoria Beckham-famously known as Posh Spice-looks set to sit this one out.

Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Mel B, and Mel C are set to meet in Miami next week to thrash out the details of the reunion.

THE SPICE GIRLS TOUR

The news comes after months of swirling rumours and hints from various members.

Geri, who’s been busy with other commitments, is finally back in touch with the band’s legendary manager, Simon Fuller.

“Nothing is yet confirmed but Geri and Simon are back in touch with a myriad of exciting ideas,” a source revealed.

VICTORIA BECKHAM BOWS OUT

Victoria Beckham, now 51, is reportedly “90 per cent out of the running.” However, insiders say she might still make a special appearance, possibly as an avatar or in a one-off performance.

“Victoria would always want to honour the girls’ history,” the source added. Fans can still hope for a surprise cameo, but don’t expect her to join the full tour.

It’s been nearly three decades since the Spice Girls exploded onto the scene with Wannabe in 1996, according to the Daily Mail.

Their infectious energy and message of girl power resonated across the globe, including right here in South Africa.

THE LAST SPICE GIRL TOUR

The group last toured together in 2019, with Victoria absent then too. The last time all five performed was at the London 2012 Olympics.

Geri recently told The Times, “My hope is we come back together as a collective. It’s more respectful to come as one.

There will be something. We love each other. I love them, I care about them, we want the best for each other”.

Although they have not announced official dates and venues yet, fans are already speculating that the tour will stop in major cities worldwide.

SOUTH AFRICAN DATES?

If the Spice Girls hit South Africa, expect tickets to sell out fast – and likely cost a pretty penny.

For context, the last reunion tour’s tickets in the UK started at around £60, which is roughly R1,400 at today’s rates.

So, South African Spice Girls fans, dust off your platforms and Union Jack dresses. The world’s biggest girl group might just be coming your way – even if it’s as four, not five.
