Former Skeem Saam actor Thabo Masoga has faced hard times and now works as a security guard.

Masoga portrayed the role of Ananias, Big Boy’s landlord, on Skeem Saam.

He became one of the most loved characters on the show. Indeed, he bought many top cars and a house in Hammanskraal.

Unfortunately, things turned down as he fell from grace and had to sell all his assets.

According to Sunday World, Masoga opened up about his situation and how things fell apart.

He said things started going south after an offer to write a script for Skeem Saam, which he refused.

“I wondered why because I was not their writer. It looked like they wanted to use my talent as a writer to uplift their soapie. From that moment, my character was phased out until there were no calls,” he said.

“I love my job, more so because I work in my home village in front of my fans. They used to celebrate me as their role model,” he said.

“I was ashamed… I didn’t want people to see me like that,” he continued, speaking of working as a security guard.

MASOGA REMAINS HOPEFUL

Despite being in such a challenging phase of his life, the veteran actor believed things would be better.

“As much as I was so heartbroken when I lost all these assets, I remained positive about life. And that is because I have seen great people fall and rise. I believe that one day I will find a way out of my situation and back on my feet,” said Masoga.
