Renowned musician Jabulani Hadebe, best known by his stage name Sjava has made a bold statement revealing how important it is for artists to stay away from reading public comments on social media to ensure the longevity of their careers.
In the current digital age we live in, the rise of technology and social media has made it much easier for the public to share their opinions on matters they feel strongly about.
While ordinary people are often victims of this wrath of the internet, those most affected by public scrutiny are often those who are already in the limelight – like our sportsmen and artists.
Taking to X (Formerly known as Twitter), the rapper revealed that spending time on social media may be one of the most harmful things musicians can do to their careers.
In his post, he wrote:
“Artists having too much access to reading comments about what the fans say about them or rather what they think about their art on social media will ruin a lot of artistry, especially musicians.”
However, those entering the comment section of his post did not agree with his sentiments. This comes as many have highlighted that it is important for artists to welcome constructive criticism.

Others meanwhile feel that consumers have the right to comment on the music of artists if they feel that it is not up to standard this will help musicians produce better work.
I beg to differ, there must always be room for improvement in any artist and who’s supposed to tell the artists what to improve and where to improve, it’s fans and where do fans access the artists on the comment section.
