Off the pitch it’s been a tumultuous time for Springbok captain Siya Kolisi.

Late last year, he and ex-wife, Rachel Kolisi, announced their divorce weeks before South Africa’s autumn series in the United Kingdom. This left the double World Cup winner to juggle the Springboks and one of South Africa’s most public separations in recent memory.

Rachel gets half

With no annulment signed before the wedding, Rachel is due to receive half of Kolisi’s wealth, which, according to Briefly News, is R35 million, meaning she will collect a whopping R17.5 million. That’s got to hurt.

South Africa gasps

The Kolisi’s announced their divorce – after eight years of marriage – on Instagram, saying, “We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.

“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.

“We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for respect as we navigate this transition.

“With gratitude and love,

“Siya and Rachel.”

News of their divorce rocked the country after South Africa’s golden couple, a symbol of unity and love, announced their seperation. The Kolisi’s have remained focused on raising their two children.
